    About Us

Ka Nupepa o Na Haumana — The Newspaper of the Students

Ka Nupepa o Na Haumana is a digital platform dedicated to preserving and promoting the Hawaiian language through accessible news content for learners at all levels.

    Our Mission

We believe that language lives through daily use. By presenting news articles in Hawaiian with English translations, we provide an immersive learning experience that connects readers to both the language and the stories of Hawaiʻi—past and present.

    What We Offer

    Bilingual Articles

Every article is presented in Hawaiian with an English translation, allowing learners to compare and understand the language in context.

    Interactive Learning

Click on any Hawaiian paragraph to reveal its English translation, practicing comprehension at your own pace.

    Historical Content

We feature articles from historic Hawaiian language newspapers, connecting readers to the rich tradition of Hawaiian journalism.

    A Note on Spelling

In keeping with the style of historical Hawaiian newspapers, we often present text without diacritical marks (the kahakō and ʻokina). This reflects how Hawaiian was commonly written in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
